The short version: the evidence here does not answer what pre-teens and teenagers should have done with the COVID vaccine in 2021. It covers HPV, meningococcal, Tdap, influenza, and MMR vaccines, plus one Danish study on symptoms after COVID vaccination – none of which test the question asked.
The retrieval found nothing about the COVID vaccine’s net benefit or harm for healthy 11–17 year olds in 2021. The one relevant record, a Danish cohort study of 12–18 year olds, looked at symptom-specific hospital contacts after BNT162b2, not at the decision to vaccinate [4]. It found increased hospital contacts for syncope in girls (PERR 4.18, 95% CI 2.60–8.23) and for abnormalities of breathing in girls (2.50, 1.51–5.91), but also reductions in some symptoms like fatigue [4].
