The short version: the animal studies on COVID-19 vaccines and fertility are sparse, short-term, and mostly test tooth development, not reproduction.
The only animal study in this retrieval that actually gave a COVID-19 vaccine to pregnant animals is a 2025 rat study of the AstraZeneca vaccine [6]. It looked at tooth development in the offspring, not fertility. It found the vaccine changed bone-related gene expression: RANKL and BMP-2 went up, OPG went down [6]. That is a molecular signal of altered bone remodeling, but the study did not measure whether the pups could reproduce later. It did not measure pregnancy rates, litter sizes, or any fertility endpoint.
The other animal data here is about a skin test for T-cell immunity [4], not a vaccine. It tested a recombinant protein in guinea pigs and macaques and reported no acute toxicity, but it did not measure fertility either [4].

These are plausible mechanisms documented in animal models and case reports outside this retrieval. But the human population data that would confirm or refute them at scale does not exist in these records.
The most informative study design, vaccinated versus unvaccinated with long-term follow-up for fertility and pregnancy loss, was never run. The absence of evidence is not evidence of safety.
