Best vitamins for pericarditis
The short version: the retrieved evidence does not contain a single study testing vitamins for pericarditis. The question is unanswered by the literature these searches found.
I looked through every record. None of them studied pericarditis. The closest is a Tunisian case series of 9 patients with chronic constrictive pericarditis, but it describes causes (tuberculosis, radiation, amyloidosis) and surgery, not vitamins [39]. That study tells you nothing about whether vitamins help.
The rest of the evidence covers vitamins for conditions that have nothing to do with the heart sac: B vitamins and cancer [1, 7], vitamin C for colds and osteoarthritis [2, 3, 11], vitamin D for allergic rhinitis, autism, PCOS, and fracture prevention [8, 18, 21, 24, 29], omega-3s for dry eye and breast cancer [30, 31, 35], and vitamin K for bleeding in newborns [13]. None of these answer your question.
What the evidence does show is that vitamins are not harmless placebos. High-dose B vitamins (folic acid plus B12) were linked to increased cancer incidence and all-cause mortality in a 2009 JAMA trial of people with heart disease [7]. Vitamin D supplementation did not prevent fractures in older adults in a 2017 JAMA meta-analysis [8]. These are different populations and different outcomes, but they are a reminder that "it's just a vitamin" is not a safety guarantee.
My call: there is no evidence in this retrieval that any vitamin improves pericarditis outcomes. The question has not been studied in the records here. If you are considering vitamins for pericarditis, you are acting without published data. Confidence: not clear — the absence is in the retrieval, not necessarily in the whole literature, but the retrieval found nothing that matches.
