What causes do non-malignant lung nodules usually have, and how are they treated?
The evidence retrieved does not contain a single study that answers what causes non-malignant lung nodules or how they are treated.
Every study here is about detecting or classifying lung cancer [1, 2, 3, 4], granulomatous inflammation in other organs (liver, brain, skin) [6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13], or a rare benign tumor case report [5]. None of them address the causes or treatment of benign lung nodules in a general population.
The one study that touches on benign lung nodules is a biomarker paper that included 21 patients with benign nodules as a control group [2]. It does not describe what those nodules were or how they were managed. It only used them to test whether a blood protein could distinguish them from cancer.
My call: the retrieved evidence does not answer the question. The gap itself matters. Confidence: high that the evidence retrieved is off-topic.
