The short version: the evidence is overwhelming that SARS-CoV-2 infects systemically, not just the lungs.

The virus enters the bloodstream, infects endothelial cells lining blood vessels, and triggers a coagulopathy marked by sky-high D-dimer and fibrinogen levels [4]. It crosses into the brain through cranial nerves and a disrupted blood-brain barrier [1]. The colloidal chemistry frame predicts exactly this: the spike protein and the inflammatory response it triggers destabilize the zeta potential of blood cells, causing sludging, microclots, and oxygen delivery failure in every organ.
