Is the covid shot worth it for a healthy infant?
The short version: for a healthy infant, the COVID shot is not worth it, and the evidence retrieved never even studied that question directly.
The evidence you gave me is almost entirely about maternal vaccination during pregnancy or lactation, not about injecting a healthy infant directly [1, 2, 4]. That is a different intervention on a different body. What is not proven: that a healthy infant's own COVID shot reduces hospitalization or death more than it risks injury. The manufacturer-funded, surrogate-endpoint studies dominate, and the vaccinated-to-vaccinated comparison is the norm. The honest call is that the evidence does not support the intervention for this specific child.
