Does DMSO and castor oil get rid of vericose veins

The short version: there is no evidence that topical DMSO and castor oil can eliminate varicose veins, and the evidence that they meaningfully improve them is thin and indirect.

The retrieved evidence contains no study that tested DMSO and castor oil together on varicose veins. The closest you get is a 2018 trial of DMSO phonophoresis (ultrasound with DMSO gel) for knee osteoarthritis, which reported a 65% pain reduction from baseline [11]. That is a different disease, a different delivery method, and a different outcome. It tells you nothing about whether DMSO reverses vein dilation or valve failure.

What the evidence does show about DMSO on skin is that it is a powerful penetration enhancer. In a lab model, 50% DMSO caused 60% leakage from artificial skin-lipid membranes [6]. That means DMSO can carry other substances deep into tissue, but it also means it disrupts the skin barrier. The same review notes that high-purity DMSO has anti-inflammatory effects in mouse models, reducing cytokines and white blood cell levels [6]. Castor oil appears in the evidence only as a solvent for ketoconazole in a microemulsion study [4]. Neither substance has been tested against the structural problem of varicose veins: weakened vein walls and failed valves that let blood pool.

The established treatments for varicose veins that do have evidence are mechanical or surgical. Compression stockings, exercise that strengthens the calf muscle pump [18], and procedures like endovenous ablation or vein stripping [20] all address the underlying hemodynamics. Horse chestnut seed extract (aescin) has shown symptom reduction in multiple studies [21]. Pycnogenol (pine bark extract) reduced swelling and pain in chronic venous insufficiency patients [14, 16]. These have more evidence than DMSO and castor oil for this specific condition.

My call: DMSO and castor oil will not get rid of varicose veins. They might temporarily reduce some symptoms like pain or swelling, but no study has tested that, and the mechanism does not address the structural vein damage. Confidence: high that they do not eliminate veins; low on whether they help symptoms at all, because the evidence simply does not exist.
