Do my toddlers need vaccines?
The short version: the evidence retrieved does not answer whether your toddlers need vaccines. It studies how to increase uptake, not whether the schedule is worth it.
The studies you were given are about barriers to vaccination [1, 5, 6], recall systems [3], pay-for-performance [9], and whether mothers remember shots accurately [10]. None of them compare health outcomes in vaccinated versus unvaccinated toddlers. One paper [7] even admits that the most informative comparison group—children who get no vaccines—is almost never studied, and that when it is, the data is full of misclassification. The safety data here comes from VAERS [26, 30, 31], a passive system that detects almost nothing by design. Underreporting is the norm. A study that uses VAERS to prove safety proves nothing.
The only trial that compares a vaccine to a true control is the meningococcal conjugate study [16], funded by Sanofi, which measures antibody titers—a surrogate endpoint—not whether children get sick, hospitalized, or die. Antibody levels are not proof of protection. The rest of the evidence is about logistics: how to get more shots into more arms. That is not evidence that the shots help the child in front of you.
