The mechanistic evidence for exercise improving heart health is real. A 2021 RCT showed one year of moderate-to-vigorous exercise reduced carotid stiffness and improved cerebral blood flow [16]. But that study used continuous aerobic exercise, not the Norwegian 4x4 protocol specifically.
