What is the timeframe for getting over it
The short version: the evidence retrieved does not give a timeframe for recovery from long COVID in older adults, because no study in this set followed a 74-year-old cohort with a clock.
The hypothesis that a natural recovery trajectory exists is reasonable, but the evidence you were given does not test it in your age group. One Italian study of hospitalized patients found that 30.3% still had symptoms at 6 months and 25.3% at 12 months [16], which shows that a quarter of that group had not recovered by a year. But that cohort was younger (mean age not given, but hospitalized) and the study did not report a median recovery time. A German pediatric study found that some post-COVID diagnoses persisted to 12 months in children [15], which is a different population entirely. The 2025 Korean guideline defines PASC as symptoms lasting beyond 3 months [2] but offers no recovery curve for older adults.
